Solar systems have been installed in some of the economically poorest countries in the world, including Nicaragua, Haiti, Malawi, Mali, Nepal and Senegal. An Introduction To Silicon Valley Clean Energy

A Presentation By Misty Mersich & Jenna Behrendt

SVCE.FINALOn the road to lowering our carbon footprint, we are witnessing many new organizations and efforts that are helping us on this journey. One such organization is Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE). This recently formed organization has participating jurisdictions from Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Saratoga, Sunnyvale and the unincorporated parts of Santa Clara County. These communities have formed a Joint Powers Agency called the Silicon Valley Clean Energy Authority which is a non-profit public agency that will oversee a Community Choice Energy (CCE) Program.

Misty Mersich and Jenna Behrendt will be presenting all the ins and outs of this new venture as well as anwering questions from our attendees.  They will cover, among other things, the following:

  • What is Community Choice Energy?

  • What are the benefits for my Community?

  • Overview of Progress to date and Next Steps

  • How to Get Involved

California Clean Initiative

The statewide initiative we are planning will prohibit the most common mind damaging, cancer causing, birth defect causing chemicals in our bodies, food, water, soil, air, and creatures of the environment. It will prohibit aircraft and truck mounted pesticide foggings and the significant off-site drift they cause.

cleantech open hirez 2Many Bay Area entrepreneurs are taking on the challenges of global climate change.  Each year some of the best local clean tech entrepreneurs look to the Cleantech Open to help them refine their business plans, sell their concept to investors and customers, and build a successful clean tech enterprise.  The Cleantech Open has grown into a global accelerator fo r clean tech start-ups and is embarking on their 10th year.  Kim Eva Van Keymeulen is the Major Metro Director for the Bay Area and the Sustainability Co-Chair for the Bay Area and the Western Region.  Kim will tell us the inspiring Cleantech Open story.   Kim has also invited some Bay Area start-up alumni of the Cleantech Open to join her to talk about their businesses and their experience in the Cleantech Open.  So far, Hobin Kim (with Seevider), Jinal Sampat (with Garden Pipe), and Robert Chang and Chaitanya Sharma (with Verdigris Technologies) have confirmed that they will join her for this presentation and discussion with the audience.
